NEWS AND EVENTS

Conductive Education is an intensive learning approach for individuals with a wide range of disabilities.  These disabilities include, but are not limited to Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Injuries to the spinal cord or brain, Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Ataxia and Parkinson's Disease.

Conductive Education is not a cure, but rather a learning system.  A trained teacher (called a conductor) assists the child or adult in specific exercises designed for each individual's specific needs.  Repeating these exercises encourages the individual’s brain to find alternative paths to muscle groups in the body allowing intentional movement.  Conductive Education supports children and adults to achieve independence in movement, self-care, language and socialization.

The primary goal of Conductive Education is to gain or regain new or lost skills in order to have a more active and independent life.

Conductive Education is also beneficial in preventing future medical problems.  Individuals learning to move correctly helps prevent falls that cause injury.  In addition, learning how to move and stretch correctly can improve blood circulation and prevent future medical conditions such as pneumonia, blood clots, skin breakdown and many other conditions that result when an individual is unable to move independently.

Conductive Education was developed in Budapest, Hungary in the late 1940’s by Dr. Andras Peto.  He had a belief that individuals with disabilities were not fundamentally different than any other individual.

We at Brighter Beginnings share that same belief.

by Kelly Morris on 03/14/12

I had the pleasure to speak with Gail Hogan on Daytime Columbus regarding our services on March 13th.  With this being our first television interview, I was very nervous.  Gail made me feel at ease and was very easy to speak with.

AOL "Giving Good" Grant

by Kelly Morris on 12/02/11

AOL is giving away three $10,000.00 grants to non profits that are nominated and free advertising.  Brighter Beginnings could REALLY benefit from the grant (which would be used for scholarships) and more importantly, the advertising.  We can't fill the classrooms without families knowing that we're here.  Please consider nominating BB by clicking here.  Thank you for your support.
